Pearl Gabel is the Digital Director for New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. She works in communications at the intersection of social media, writing, photography, documentary storytelling, editing and management. Previously she was the Director of Video for the New York City Mayor's Office.
Her work has been featured in many publications and organizations, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Beast, NBC News, Reuters, Newsweek, The Atlantic, Vice, Mashable, The Humane Society, The New York City Department of Education, and International Medical Corps.
She was a multimedia journalist and staff photographer for the New York Daily News, where she covered everything from the riots in Ferguson, Missouri to the aftermath of the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting. She studied writing at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and Hampshire College. Her work has been recognized by The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Media For a Just Society, and the New York Press Photographers Association.
